Time Management Week 3

In the third week of the course I have;

• Made the appropriate improvements to my pitch and have uploaded a post showing these particular improvements. 
• I have created a presentation about my initial ideas of my target audience, I.E; which age range they will be, which gender they would be, what would be their occupation, etc. 
• I have also created a post which goes through the different methods I will use to actually make my product regional, I.E; using regional dialect, red and white color schemes etc.

Pitch Improvements

In the peer feedback I received for my pitch, a lot of peers suggested that I should; add a page showing which colour scheme I would be using, and also a page about my inspirational texts. I have created pages for both of these and added them to my pitch presentation.

Making My Product Regional

Given the fact that my product will be a fanzine about Sunderland, my magazine's genre is instantly regional. However there are certain aspects which I will need to include within the product to follow this regional trend.

The content of my fanzine will be very much centered around local activities, such as; events and gigs. I will also mention certain locations across the city of Sunderland, such as Holmeside, The Bridges and others. For my article, I plan to do an interview. This interview will be with somebody who actually is from Sunderland, therefore this person will have a good knowledge of the region, therefore making the magazine relatable to the regional readers.














There will also be lots of content within the magazine regarding the football club Sunderland AFC. This will include arrangements for away matches; I.E a bus service and a list of pubs near the away grounds. There will also be lots of discussion about the club itself. This will include discussion of matches, transfers and generally the club itself.

There will be lots of regional dialect within my fanzine. This again allows the reader to relate to the magazine as it is as if the product is talking to them in their regional dialect. This may entail using words such as 'canny', 'whayaye', 'ha'way' and more. For effect I will also use some words in their accents. Once again, this will create the relatable effect for the reader and will give the magazine a light hearted and almost comedic feel.

Time Managment - Week 2

The second week of the course has been a successful one;

• I completed my pitch and presented it to my peers who gave me some productive feedback.
• I uploaded a screenshot of this feedback to my blog.
• I have started to make the improvements to my pitch and will create a post next week showing what I have done to improve the piece.
• I have also begun to create a presentation including information about my target audience. I will upload this to the blog next week.

Billboard Recreation

This is the recreation of an official Manchester City FC billboard. I am happy with this recreation because I feel it is very similar to the original. I gave the image it's white/silhouette look by applying the cut out filter in Photoshop and colouring it white. I could not create the MCFC logo because that would've involved using an image that wasn't mine. 

Double Page Spread Recreation

The is my double page spread recreation. It is meant to be a recreation of a double page spread taken from one issue of ALS. I feel that I have been able to make my recreation as similar as possible to the original however I did struggle to find the same fonts and I also did not have the means to create the cartoon-like image of Julio Arca used in the original therefore I left that bit out.

I am happy with this recreation; I feel I have successfully managed to replicate the conventions of this page and have managed to find and use fonts that are very similar to the original version. The lack of images in this page made the production more easier for me as it did not require me to take a photo, however I know that for my actual product I will need to take a photo(s) for my contents page. 

Time Management - Week 1

I feel I have made progress in this first week;

• I have created my image mood board on Padlet showing similar images to the ones I hope to use within my product
• I analysed and critiqued some past work, improving my knowledge of the coursework requirements.
• I created a post showing the type of image design/ artwork I hope to use within my product 
• I also created a presentation including my pitch.  

Design Ideas

Within my magazine, website and billboard, I want to include a particular kind of image design. Using Photoshop, I will use photos of a model and photos of something else (for example The Wearmouth Bridge) and lay them over one and other to create what I think is a very stark and interesting design. Here is an example of some artwork taken from HBO's True Detective, with the same design as the one I am hoping to achieve;

Whilst experimenting on PhotoShop, I created my own image with this design. Although it is not yet perfected, I feel I will soon be able to recreate the same design as the ones used in the images above;

Front Cover - Recreation

This is my first recreation task. It is a recreation of a front cover from Sunderland AFC's official club magazine 'Legion of Light'. The few problems I had with the creation of this task was the fact that I did not own one of the Sunderland AFC shirts that is used in the Legion of Light cover so I used an older Sunderland AFC shirt that I own. I also found it hard finding similar fonts to the ones used in the real cover. I consulted Dafont and looked at Photoshop's preset fonts and felt I have used the ones that are most similar to the original product. Overall, I feel my product is of decent quality but could be more similar to the actual product. This task has helped me gain an understanding of the production of front covers and has also helped me improve my Adobe Photoshop usage skills.

Past Work Assessment

We did an assessment of some past work in class. We assessed three pieces of work, which were given mark. They each received a different amount of marks. Overall this helped as it helped me to gain a better understanding of what should be done to receive high marks.
